Halloween Costume Ideas – Avengers

(Check our all of our movie-inspired Halloween costume ideas, easy ways to connect with your kids, and simple ways to share God’s story!)

Remember, just about all Super Heroes point to Jesus, the ultimate Super Hero.If your kids are dressing up as their favorite superhero, remind them that Super Heroes pint to Jesus because they show us Philippines 2.

Instead of being motivated by selfish ambition or vanity, each of you should, in humility, be moved to treat one another as more important than yourself. Each of you should be concerned not only about your own interests, but about the interests of others as well.
Philippians 2:3-4

Captain America

In addition to showing us what Philippians 2 looks like, Captain America is also all about the sacrifice. He show’s over and over again what it means to be willing to sacrifice ourselves for a greater good, or even for our friends.

No one has greater love than this—that one lays down his life for his friends.
John 15:13

I am, and will always be, Team Cap!

I loved his, “There’s only one God, ma’am, and I’m pretty sure He doesn’t dress like that” quip.

I appreciate how he tries to limit the bad language used in the team.

And I dig the uniform!

Captain America’s uniform is not an easy costume to make. But with a little effort and time, it *is* doable.

Hulk

While not as obvious as Cap, the Hulk is a great example of the importance of – and the difficulty with – self-control. We often see Banner remove himself from situations that will cause him to lose control (literally!) and even gives up what he wants – and who he loves? – in order to control “it.”Connect with your kids as you build these Hulk inspired Halloween costume ideas.

Hawkeye’s costume is more like Luke’s or Han’s; fairly easy and likely uses a lot of what you may already  have.

The easiest option is to combine a black sleeveless t-shirt with black pants and black boots (or even shoes). Add one wrist guard and a bow and arrow (often found at a thrift store) and you have an easily identifiable Hawkeye costume!

Here’s a little more detailed costume, but still pretty easy.

Finally, here is a great kid Hawkeye costume, complete with a (safe) PVC bow!

Black Widow

While the others deal with sacrifice and self-control, Black Widow is a great example of redemption and forgiveness. There is no doubt that she’s done some very bad things. But she – just like all of us – is redeemable.

God loves us before we ever did something wrong.

But God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8

And He loves us even when we do wrong.

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor heavenly rulers, nor things that are present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39

The key to Black Widow’s costume is her accessories. The rest is basically a black long sleeve shirt or jacket, black pants, and black boots. Beyond those, it’s a matter of accessories.

To help nail those accessories, head on over to We Must Be Dreamers, WikiHow, or the video below.
